Ayres SI ® in the Schools: From Theory to Practice
Historically, implementing sensory integration constructs into direct occupational therapy services in the school setting has been challenging. Recent research suggests sensory integration (Ayres SI ®) interventions, with teacher consultation, can improve school performance and the participation of students in their educational environment. The challenge of providing sensory integration in the school setting can be transformed into opportunities to support learning and successful outcomes for children through education on Ayres’ sensory integration frame of reference.
Audience: This course has been developed for occupational therapy practitioners serving in the school setting. A foundational knowledge of sensory integration is recommended. The Simply Sensory Modules, or Developing the "Just Right" Sensory Intervention Course, will provide this prerequisite knowledge.
Bonus resources: Many evidence-based printable resources, current research, and relevant literature.
