Developing "Just Right" Sensory Integration Interventions

This is a Live, Interactive, Introductory level, AOTA-approved course. Completion of the course will award 0.6 CEUs or 6 contact hours. Cost: $240

This course includes many resources and tools in developing effective sensory integration interventions for positive outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Define sensory integration and neurologic components such as the senses, the sensory-motor loop, basic neuroanatomy, and central nervous system functioning to apply sensory integration theory to occupational performance.

  • Describe how attention and learning are dependent on sensory functioning. (Typical Sensory Functioning)

  • Identify sensory dysfunction and its effects on academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and motor performance during occupations.  

  • Identify evidence-based interventions to address specific sensory dysfunction with successful outcomes.

  • Define intervention plans to address specific sensory dysfunction in a child’s occupation at home, school, and in the community.

  • Discuss appropriate environmental and occupational modifications to effectively address sensory functioning at home, school, and community.

  • Identify progress monitoring tools to measure outcomes for sensory functioning effectively.

All courses above include the Instructional methods of lecture, collaborative group learning, and case studies while incorporating kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learning styles. The delivery format will be Live, Distance Learning through the Zoom Platform.

Continuing education credit (certificate) is presented with full course attendance, 70% passing grade for learning assessments, and completion of course evaluation.
